UPDATE: Charges Laid In Grange Street Homicide
Date Released: 2007-09-20
Yesterday, on September 19, 2007, Burnaby RCMP responded to a 911 call from an apartment in the 4200 Block of Grange Street in Burnaby. Once inside the apartment, a body was located and the scene was immediately secured. The circumstances surrounding this death appeared to be suspicious and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in to take over the investigation. A male was taken into custody in regards to this incident, and this morning made an appearance in Vancouver Provincial Court.
19 year old Aaron John HICKEY, a resident of Burnaby, is now facing charges of Second Degree Murder. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on September 26, 2007.
The female victim of this tragic event has been identified as 38 year old Burnaby resident Tammy Lynn MURRAY.
It appears that Aaron HICKEY and Tammy MURRAY knew each other, and this incident is not believed to be a random act.
An autopsy has been conducted today, but results of this will not be released as this matter is now before the courts and we do not wish to jeopardize the integrity of the process.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is continuing with the investigation.
